The Sarasota Bayfront plan has received enthusiastic community response.
AMS began working with the Van Wezel Foundation in 2015, facilitating an in-depth evaluation of future scenarios for Van Wezel Hall. This process established a dynamic definition of success looking ahead to the next fifty years and suggesting the replacement of Sarasota’s venerable performing arts hall. Future operating strategies and facility components also received careful consideration.
Beginning in late 2017, our work continued, complementing the creation of a comprehensive, long-term master plan built around a common vision for the City of Sarasota’s Bayfront properties. The Sarasota Bay Planning Organization, known as The Bay, and their planners Sasaki Associates, with extensive input from the community, the Van Wezel Foundation and the City of Sarasota, have been working to develop a master plan that maximizes the Bayfront’s role as vibrant public space, including as its centerpiece , a welcoming and state-of-the-art performing arts center. The project team’s efforts continue to drive toward a process for implementation. For more information on the development of the Sarasota Bayfront, click here and here for The Bay.
