AMS works with Saranac Lake to Create an Arts and Cultural Master Plan.
AMS first worked in Saranac Lake in 2015, when we were engaged by Pendragon Theatre to investigate whether there was support for a larger scale arts center. Our study resulted in a Situation Analysis and recommendation to upgrade Pendragon’s facility, either at its current location or by moving elsewhere.
Subsequently, our team was engaged to develop an arts and cultural master plan for Saranac Lake. Beginning with research about the Village’s year-round and seasonal resident populations, we listened as residents cited the Village’s diversity of cultural offerings, beautiful natural surroundings, strong sense of community, and rich heritage and history, among other strengths. Our assignment included market research, a facilities analysis, and a public success/visioning workshop in preparation of developing the Arts & Culture Master Plan. Working together with a cultural planning committee, five key goals were identified as the foundation for the plan, including: community engagement; implementation funding; targeted marketing strategies; support for arts organizations and individual artists, and; arts and culturally driven economic development. An implementation plan is in development and will be shared with the community at the end of February. Click here for more news on the Village of Saranac Lake’s Arts and Cultural Master Plan.
