Gerard Atkinson joined AMS Planning and Research in June 2015 as a Senior Research Analyst, focusing on leveraging large-scale data to better inform research and planning in arts organizations.
Gerard holds an MBA in Business Analytics and an MA in Arts Management from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. During his studies, he undertook research and analysis for organizations including the Dallas Opera, Americans for the Arts, and the National Center for Arts Research. Gerard also has a BSc in Physics from the Australian National University, and has previously developed software for the analysis of large data sets from particle accelerator experiments.
Prior to commencing postgraduate studies, Gerard worked for the Australian Government, developing strategic planning and communications for a multi-billion dollar program for companies undertaking research and development. He also served as Secretary of the board of the Canberra Opera, and led their transition to a non-profit model (whilst also performing as a principal Bass-Baritone).
