Two years after completing its Cultural Arts Plan, the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri's sixth largest city, received the Creative Community honor at the 2010 Missouri Arts Awards ceremony in Jefferson City. In accepting the award, Mayor Karen R. Messerli credited the city's Cultural Arts Plan, undertaken by AMS Planning & Research, as a key factor in being awarded the creative community designation. AMS recently worked with the reconstituted Lee's Summit Arts Council on a Cultural Plan update and strategic plan for the coming year.
