Overture Center Resolves Debt

Madison's Overture Center for the Arts took a huge step toward a revitalized future by resolving its outstanding debt (news item here). The $28 million debt was the result of the September 2008 market crash, that led banks to liquidate the Center's support trust.

AMS Planning & Research provided financial analysis and advice to the multiple governing boards supporting Overture, and to its professional leadership. The resolution of the debt required complex and nuanced negotiations between banks, major donors, and civic leaders.

''This is great news for all of us,'' said Linda Baldwin, chairwoman of the Madison Cultural Arts District, one of the boards working with AMS. ''It's truly a milestone for securing the future of Overture Center.''

AMS continues to provide advice, planning, and financial analysis as Overture Center plans its transition to a new ownership and governing structure.
