Richmond CenterStage Opens Its Doors
Richmond CenterStage celebrated its opening with a performance featuring its resident companies. The $73.5 million performing arts center includes a fully restored historic 1,736 seat performance hall, a 200-seat Playhouse, expanded artist amenities and additional public spaces including a multi-purpose function space, art gallery, expanded lobby and coffee shop, as well as a state-of-the art arts education and technical resource center. Richmond CenterStage will host nine resident companies: the Richmond Symphony, the Richmond Jazz Society, African-American Repertory Theatre, Virginia Opera, Barksdale Theatre/Theatre IV, SPARC, Elegba Folklore Society, Richmond Shakespeare and Richmond Ballet.AMS has assisted in the planning and implementation of this project from the very beginning. Congratulations to the entire Richmond community for building this cultural treasure!
