PAC StatsSM

Recognizing the power of arts centers to engage communities in positive ways, for the past 12 years, AMS has had the privilege of working with many of North America's largest performing arts centers; exploring issues of common attention, developing data to benchmark operations and identifying the means to better serve communities. AMS maintains the most complete database on arts center operations, programming and audiences available.

For the past five years we have worked closely with 25 of the top Performing Arts Centers across North America and around the world to develop PAC Stats a standard-setting benchmarking and performance measurement tool that serves both Board and staff in planning, operations, and as an educational resource.

What you do is important and difficult; we can help you do it better.

PAC Stats helps you proactively, efficiently, and effectively to manage your performing arts center. Data are gathered and displayed that illustrates industry-wide trends, explores operating performance and reveals opportunities to explore operational improvement.  PAC Stats is also valuable for planning for new or expanded facilities by providing benchmarks, understanding what drives costs and impacts expenses, and forecasting operations.

PAC Stats participants receive detailed, multi-year analyses that summarize revenue, expenses, utilization and other critical operating data in an easy-to-understand, three-volume report. CEOs and CFOs are also invited to participate in one of two annual regional meetings to explore with their colleagues and the AMS team the implications of the data.

Data are collected using a web-based survey.  Confidentiality is assured by AMS and data are not communicated in any form without permission of participating Centers.

Timeline
  • The PAC Stats survey is distributed each year in October.
  • Data are submitted within 60 days from the end of the fiscal year (but no later than the end of February) to complete and submit the survey.
  • A draft report is issued in March for review by participating centers.
  • Regional meetings are held in late spring.
  • Final reports are issued in July.

Annual Fee
The annual fee is based on your current operating budget. As the number and diversity of participating centers grows additional analysis groups will be developed. (For example, Centers on university campuses, Centers operating as government departments, etc.)  Subscriptions are renewable annually and invoiced twice per year. Contact us to learn more about the annual fee for your organization.

As an added benefit PAC Stats participants have access to the AMS team of professional consultants at reduced rates.

"The PAC Stats annual report provides -- in a confidential setting -- a broad and deep context for our operating data. The longitudinal data, assembled in a consistent and disciplined manner, is a rock-solid resource for us. The report allows us…to look at our data differently and to apply objective, quantified measurements. AMS works closely with PAC Statssm users to provide report enhancements providing readability and identifying trends."

"AMS has made a tremendous contribution to the industry by initiating this project. Not only is the information useful for internal management and Board reporting, but it has also led to a very useful dialog with peer organizations. We refer to the reports throughout the year and have become increasingly reliant on the data and the insights provided by AMS to manage our business."
